St Mary, Mapleton, Derbyshire

Here was a little surprise, a miniature classical church in the countryside. It is a three-bayed rectangle with round arched windows, with a west tower capped by a small dome and lantern. The interior is charming with a west gallery, but a bit of a let down. Glass in the East window by A J Davies of Bromsgrove, and the font is a tiny octagonal bowl on a short Victorian gothic polished column  with foliated capital and large base.
